Derby Brunch – Richmond Area Arts Council

The Richmond Area Arts Council’s Derby Brunch will be returning to Lynwood Estate in Richmond on May 3 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.! The theme of the event is “Lilies and Roses.”
Entertainment will be provided by piano/vocal duo Mary Jackson and Keith McCutchen and guitarist Ben Lacy. Jackson and McCutchen perform a wide range of material, and both have extensive backgrounds in jazz performance. In addition to being one of the most skilled jazz pianists in central Kentucky, McCutchen is also a professor of music at Kentucky State University where he conducts the concert choir and teaches piano, theory, and other subjects. Jackson holds music degrees from Berea College and EKU, and she performs consistently throughout the central Kentucky area. Ben Lacy also has an extensive background as a performer. He has performed with many well-known artists including Al Di Meola, Larry Coryell, George Duke, Joey DeFrancesco, and Phil Keaggy. He has also shared the stage with Dick Dale and Jimmie Vaughan and opened for many artists and bands including Blues Traveler, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Leon Russell, and Victor Wooten.
An extensive menu will be prepared by EKU Catering, and a cash bar will be provided. Menu items include black pepper candied bacon, hot brown mac and cheese, Brunswick stew, root beer glazed ham, apple butter croissant breakfast bake, peach BBQ chicken on sweet potato biscuits, blackberry petit cheesecake, Kentucky butter cake with a bourbon caramel sauce, winners circle tarts, mint julep mousse, scones, assorted breakfast breads, miniature croissants, cheese balls, strawberry and hazelnut salad, and green bean and potato salad. There will be a best hat and bow tie contest, and guests will be able to tour the historic Lynwood Estate.
