DESCRIPTION:Featuring Puffs: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and MagicSpotlight Acting School is excited to launch a brand-new opportunity for actors ages 14 through adult. Please note that for this workshop\, we are using the Family Friendly Two-Act Edition\, which is specifically designed to be safe for ‘Young Wizards’ and all-ages audiences.\nWe encourage students and parents to be aware that various unedited or ‘Adult’ versions exist online; those versions do not reflect the script we will be using in this program. Our production will maintain the Spotlight tradition of high-quality\, family-appropriate entertainment.\nThe Performance Workshop is designed for older teens\, alumni\, adults\, and first-time actors who want more than just rehearsal. This program combines weekly acting training with guided rehearsal for a full production of Puffs: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic—a funny and heartfelt play told from the point of view of the “Puffs\,” the loyal and often overlooked students at a certain magical school.\nThis is a Spotlight Acting School program\, not a community theater production. If not\, the show may be performed with a single cast.\nWhat Is Puffs?Puffs is a comedy by Matt Cox that tells the story of a group of students at a certain school of magic who are not the heroes everyone usually talks about. Instead\, this play follows the loyal\, funny\, and often overlooked “Puffs” who were there through all seven increasingly eventful years. It’s been described as “a tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.”\nIt’s a strong choice for a training-based ensemble because it offers:\nLots of character workComedyTeamworkStorytellingFlexible casting possibilitiesThe show can be performed with as few as 11 actors (with many roles doubled). With a larger group\, more actors can be included and roles can be spread out more widely.\nWhat Does It Cost?We are keeping this first session as affordable as possible.\nWorkshop Fee: $150Costume Fee: $30Total: $180This program is not on the traditional monthly tuition model. Instead\, it uses a single workshop fee to keep enrollment simple and accessible.
