SUMMARY:Shrink Pots with Gabe Strand
DESCRIPTION:Gabe Strand leads this weekend workshop covering a beginner green woodworking project – the Shrink Pot!\nFrom Gabe:\nMaking a shrink pot is the perfect introduction to greenwoodworking. Basically a small vessel\, a shrink pot is a hollowed out piece of green (wet) wood. A dry base is fitted into a groove in the bottom of the tube\, and as the wet wood dries\, it shrinks around the bottom\, locking it in place. A lid can then be shaped in any number of ways: with slojd knife\, bandsaw and disc sander\, or even on the lathe. Students can incorporate carving\, bark\, milk paint\, and decorative objects like stones into their creations.\nThis project:\n– connects students to wood science\, greenwood techniques\, and their own creativity as designers.\n– allows students to build hand tool skills on a small scale project.\nFor more info on Gabe\, check out his website\, https://www.greencovecraft.com

This event promises to be a wonderful occasion for all generations to come together\, share stories\, and create lasting memories.\nImportant Details:Date: May 23\, 2026 (1pm to 6pm EST)Location: Berea Church of God 189 Rash Rd\, Berea\, KY 40403Participation: We welcome everyone—no fees required to attend!\nFOOD: We have the main course covered. We are asking everyone that can to bring a side dish\, dessert or both. Suggestions are listed below. Side dishes already accounted for: mashed potatoes\, macaroni salad\, green beans (with ham and new potatoes)\, mac & cheese\, taco salad\, cupcakes\, a cake.\nOTHER SUGGESTED SIDE DISHES: Coleslaw\, potato salad\, veggie and dip platter\, fruit platter\, peas\, carrots\, pasta salad\, individual bags of chips\, rolls\, pies\, brownies\, banana pudding\, cookies\, etc. Note there is a Wal-mart in Berea as well as a Cracker Barrel (which offers large catering dishes).\nDRINKS: We will provide water and coffee.
